The Importance of Advertising

Advertising is a part of business. It is the most efficient way to bring in new customers, but it’s complicated. Many times businesses find that they actually lose money in running promotions. That’s all well and good if your intention was strictly to raise PR and brand value, but in most cases, the goal of a promotion or advertisement is to make more money than you invested – and when performed correctly, a lot more.

Advertising is important because it allows you to reach new customers with exciting deals and services that they may otherwise have missed out on (or you did because they went to your competition).

There are several ways to advertise a business, such as online, print, PR campaigns, incentive programs, commercials, street exhibits, expos, giveaways, – the list goes on.

The proper way to advertise your business isn’t set in stone, with professional marketers helping you plan and perform promotions, you can get the most out of every marketing operation and really boost your revenues and brand’s value at the same time.

Advertising V.S. Referrals

Referrals are a great way to build business and brand value. Most referrals are already intending to do business with you based off of previous work or word-of-mouth from people in your existing network/client base. Although referrals may be the “best’ way to build your business, it certainly isn’t the most efficient.

To earn a referral, you usually have to invest quite a large amount of time and resources into cultivating a healthy business relationship with your client, as well as present exemplary work. While these are both things you should be doing (and referrals often occur naturally), it is not as efficient as serving hundreds to thousands of prospective customers with a strong offer to buy from you – sometimes at pennies per person!
